WHO/ Hello, my name is Katharina Ehrhardt and I am 18 years old. I just passed the 12th grade and I will go to Israel in august 2018. There I will make my voluntary, sent by the red cross.

WHY/ I want to make a voluntary year in Israel?

I just made my A-levels and wanted to do something practical after school. Since a while I want to be a medicine and therefor I want to gain some experiences. But I definitely do not want to start studying immediately.  Before I get back school, I want to widen my point of view. I asked myself, what will I do in this one year and during my researches I discovered the voluntary organization from the Red Cross. Doing a social year seems to be very attractive and interesting. I could gain some medical experiences, during helping other people. The opportunity , that I could make my voluntary in Israel lead me to the decision, that I want definitely make this voluntary.

But why Israel?  Besides the historic and cultural background, Israel has an advanced health system. The nature and landscape is beautiful and the fact,  that many people with different origins and cultures come and live together in Israel, especially in Haifa, is great and impressive. The good weather is of course a good side effect, that affects the way of living in. Israel.

Finally I can gain medical experiences, I can find out, if medicine is something I want to do in my life and at the same time I can work for something good and social. In addition I can grow over myself, test my limits and challenge them.

I am very exited about the time with the others voluntaries, about new friendships and about learning and living the israeli daily hospital routine.
