Home coming to me

Puuuuh, Shalom.

It’s been a while and it happened a lot.

Again I am sorry, but I am running out of excuses. I just had no time.

My mother and my stepfather came at the beginning of January and I thought, I should tell you a little bit about it!

You can imagine, that we nearly spend their whole time hugging at the airport. My mother, who really managed to fly to me, had been very happy to see me. Also my stepfather, after he successfully survived the flight with my mother, was very glad to see me. We rent a car and my stepfather got to know directly to the….relaxed behavior of Israelis, handling importing things. We drove straight to Haifa in an apartment, which was in the middle of the „German Colony“, beautiful place. We didn’t had that much look with apartments this week. The flat was nice and comfortable, but very very cold. The heater didn’t worked, the promised washing machine wasn’t existing and it was not that clean. So we went eat something and watched Haifa by night.

Because of different circumstances, we made a lot of organization the next day. I had to buy a new phone, because my old one broke, we went to the colocation and got some stuff for me and we visited the hospital. That was again an ego booster for me, because everybody was telling them, how good and brave and motivated I am ;). They thought, that this was the birthday of my mother and so they prepared cakes etc., sang a song and thanked them. I don’t understand, why they thank my mother for her good working son…I mean I worked, not her…no just joking. It was a really nice atmosphere and we spend nearly two hours in the hospital. In the evening we cooked and watched a film.

For me, these were the best moments, because it just felt like being at home. Cooking and watching films together.

The next day, the day of my mothers birthday (She is now 22!!!;)) we went to my favorite place: „Eyn Hod“. The little village with a lot of art I am always talking about. Walking and watching was the essential thing on that day. Gladly for me, my mother and stepfather didn’t want to make that much, so we walked 4-6 hours a day and the rest of the time, we just were relaxed. That was good for me, because I could calm down too. After we got introduced to a lot of artist and art, we went back, bought some Falafel and watched a movie again. A perfect and uncomplicated birthday!

I think the day after, we went to Akko, but I am not quite sure anymore. We walked through the old part, drank some coffee and talked a lot about everything a mother wants to know from his son. So, about everything. After that we didn’t do my mother a favor. I decided, that we could drive to Tiberias. That sounded like a good plan, the problem was, that we had to drive along large mountains in the north of Israel and my mother absolutely hates driving. My stepfather was excited about the beautiful landscape and really enjoyed to drive this way. In Tiberias itself, it was a little bit boring. Nothing was really open and we just drank a coffee and drove back to Haifa.

On Saturday, we went to the flea market and enjoyed the good day.

On Sunday was the final moment. My parents got to known to Luca. I was really nervous about that and just hopped, that they would except him as a new family member. No, kidding, but in the evening we went to a very good restaurant and had a pretty nice evening.

Monday we drove to Jerusalem and again our apartment was shit. Really we didn’t even had a pan to cook in it. But Win and my mother made progresses and got along with the situation. It is really funny watching your mother getting out of her comfort zone.

The next day, we went to Yad Vashem, after the electricity in our apartment had been cut off…They visited the museum and I learned for a Test I am participating in Mai 2019. I didn’t want to go in there again, because I saw it two times and the topic is very heavy, so I think you do not have to see it every three weeks. After they came back, they were really impressed and quite. After a trip to the supermarket and a 50 € parking bill….we went back and let our mind dealing with the different impressions.

We made two trips to Tel Aviv, but I do not really remember when. One time we visited Jaffa and the other day we went to the Tel Aviv Art Museum. Both of these trips had been very interesting and controversy. Of course, we also visited the old city of Jerusalem. I think for my mother, being at the wailing wall was an very important and melancholic situation for her. I prayed for my grandfather and after that, we just walked around and drank coffee.

Luca came the last day and we went out together. I had to go back on Friday morning, but my mum and stepfather took the plane on Saturday, so they had to survive on day without me, but I think they could handle it! It was good, that we had to say good by in the train, because it was quick and not so painful for my mother. I hope so.

In the end it was a really calm and relaxing week and I enjoyed it. It was good for me to get out of my routine and I think also a good experience for them to deal with unusual and uncomfortable situation. I am very thankful for the time and also for all the things they brought me. They really had one whole bag just for me. Insane….

Lehitraot,

SK
