Marathon

Shalom,

its been awhile...as always...I am sorry.

So as you can think of I will tell you about the Marathon (10km) I took part a few days ago.

Joao, our little French guy with 4 backgrounds, just posted a photo Instagrams from a certificate, that he will run the 5 km at the Haifa Marathon on the 2nd November. Trough that photo my very sportive colocation partner Mirjam, who is really into running said, that it would be a great happening, if she would run 10 km! And me...well I couldn't shut my mouth as usual, so I said "Yeah I am in".

The last time I ran 10 km had been 5 month ago, so I needed some practice. Honestly I didn't practice. Dumb.

The evening before the the run was really nice and familiar. Mirjam invited all runners to a big meal in our apartment. Noodles with vegetable, as always, had been on the menu, so Eva, Mirjam, Antonia and I took a lot of energy to us. Luca and Jana just ate with us, because they love eating for free...Very motivating for us, but it was a beautiful evening. After I went to a rehearsal of a band I joined, I went to bed with a little fear I couldn't made it the next day.

We woke up at 5 o clock. It is unbelievable, that I wake up this early on my free day. And it is not just one time. I feel like I get up earlier on the weekend for making any trips, then in the week where I have to work. Interesting how motivation deals with your head. It is not like I couldn't experiences less at work then at a marathon, but nobody can tell me, that he gets up for work 100% motivated and happy. It seems like your brain says, that something is not enjoyable, just because you do it often. I think it has to do with how you appreciate things...but that is not the topic.

As I said, I woke up early. We had to took a taxi because the busier not driving this early on Shabbat and finally we got at the spot. Then I had a feeling, I felt a few times before in Israel. First, when I entered the church in Jerusalem, then when I entered the Boulder/Climbing Hall In Haifa and at the time I was arriving at the Marathon. I kind of felt familiar. No holy, famous spot in the world is without a lot of tourists and their cameras, every Climbing Hall has the same touch and a lot of Hipster in it, and even the atmosphere during the marathon was very similar to what I now from the "Gutenberg-" marathon in my Hometown. Although every country is different, especially Israel with all his conflicts, history and despite, in the end their are some places, things, feelings and events, that are just globalized. But in a good way I think. It was quiet refreshing to experience old feeling besides all the new impressions I got in the last months.

We watched the start from runners who are running 21 km, nearly missed our start, found Eva and Antonia and started running.

I made it!

Okay I know it is not that special, but I am kind of proud running 10 km without any practice for month, so I had been very happy. 1 hour I needed, which is not to bad, but not to good either. Next time it will be better, And yeah their will be a next time.

In the big tent was waiting a big paradise for us. Drinks, Bananas, chocolate and Ice. All for free. We ate until we gained our energy back ( maybe a bit more), enjoyed the atmosphere a little bit, went home by bus, fell into bed and slept. We deserved that and we had been very happy to take part at this event. Mirjam and I just have the aim to run the 21 km in February. But now I have to practice...

Really...

Lehitraot,

SK
